In the creative art studio children have the freedom to create and engage in expression of self. A few activities that children ages 4 + can build, create and explore are:
The sewing machine to sew with paper or fabric. They can create a piece of art, or draw of fabric, cut it out, and make a stuffy or a pillow.
Wood to build with hammer/nails/drill/sandpaper or use it as a medium for paint. They can design something that I can cut out and refine it with sandpaper, paint and doo dads.
A warming tray to experiment with melting crayons on paper or heavy cardboard.
A giant art easel and lots of paint (this is not washable paint) to experiment with on a large scale. The easel is on wheels and can stay inside or go outside!
Nature items in various shapes and forms; whatever nature has brought in that day.
Glue guns/glue to adhere materials together.
This means that each child will be making something different according to their needs. I keep the classes small so each one can get individualized attention. In a world where there is an ever increasing desire to conform, or do the same art project as everyone in the class, my chart points out to me that I have a warrior instinct to protect self expression, honor the freedom of individuals and to help children and adults channel their creative gifts which leads to empowerment. You will never find two of the same thing leaving this studio. It is an amazing feeling to create in an environment where there is no right or wrong and everyone is working at their own pace, on their own project. It is not unlike the Reggio Emilia idea that the environment becomes the third teacher. In my words and my experience, the environment becomes the space between the physical earth and spiritual realm that is filled with creativity, joy, vulnerability and acceptance.
Cost: $30 per class all materials included. For a limited time, if you book a chart reading with me you will receive a free class and a simple, focused plan on how to encourage growth with peers.
