Below Erik is using the Organization Board. The classes listed on this board are the same ones that are listed on the calendar on the website, with the addition of learner added classes impromptu on that day. Most of these classes were created, organized and carried out by learners. Occasionally, a Facilitator will create a class and lead a class. When learners arrive, they sign their name to whatever class they want to attend so those planning and organizing the class can check in with them about what time and where to meet. This sets the intention for the day. Often times, we will hold a meeting when everyone arrives to go through the classes, share pertinent information, and discuss upcoming classes and/or field trips and what is needed for planning and materials.
Below JT is leading our Reflection Meeting. This meeting is held at the end of the day and is a time for learners and facilitators to reflect upon their intention of the day. Each day a different learner leads this group. In this photo, JT wanted to practice his writing skills as well as lead the meeting. The leader writes down each learners name and then asks them what they enjoyed about their day, and what challenges they had, and to give the day a rating from 1 (poor) to 10 (excellent). This provides an opportunity for learners to keep on track with strengths and intentions, or change what isn't working if they choose in an atmosphere of sharing with others.
